We supply photographs for many different usages, but each case being unique, we prefer tailor-made offers that fit the customers’ needs. Except for the "Limited Press License" (see usage and description below) the copyright release and fee for all professional and commercial usages is negotiated on an individual basis.

For inquiry, quotation and usage, the standard procedure is to contact us; we will answer you as quickly as possible, often within the hour, never more than 24 hours.

The archive, negatives, transparencies and digital files, comprise around 400 000 originals, but only 15 000 photos are currently accessible on this website; if you have a project and are looking for something specific but cannot find it, we can perform a photo search for you.

Once a deal is made, we will provide our customers with a digital file, in the resolution best fitted to their usage, via email or through our ftp server.

The Limited Press Licence

The Press License was specifically designed for editors and press organizations (newspapers and magazines) that want to reproduce pictures and add them to their editorial content for a limited one-time usage.

Typically, the picture will be added to the Photo Cart and purchased. You will then receive within a very short time via email a high-resolution digital photo file (1680x2500 pixels, or 12Mb) ready for use. This will allow you to print a Half Page (14 X 21 cm or 6 X 9” at 300 dpi) at maximum quality reproduction.

The Press license only grants printed reproduction rights to magazines with a circulation inferior to 100,000 and daily newspapers with a circulation inferior to 1,000,000. The notice "© Cahier Archive" must always be added for editorial use, and we require our customers to send us at least one copy of the publication in which the image was reproduced.

All our photographs are professionally scanned, digitally processed, and cleaned for optimum quality by Paul-Henri Cahier himself.

If you are on a deadline, you will always be given priority.

Legal

No part of this web site may be reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means, electronic, mechanical, recording or otherwise, without prior permission of the Website Owner.

The reproduction by whatever means of the whole or any part of any Image is strictly forbidden without our specific written permission. You must inform us of your proposals as to when and how an Image is intended to be used. We will then consider whether we would wish to grant a license and, if so, on what terms.

Furthermore we require the customer to execute a simple one-time copyright acknowledgment. Once they have finished their usage of a file, we also ask for the destruction of all image media and electronic files whose copyright remain the sole property of the Cahier Archive.

We shall not be liable for any loss or damage suffered by you or by any third party arising from use or reproduction of any Image or its caption.
