Max Verstappen has all the stars aligned. Such amazing success does not happen by chance, but is the result of a combination of events. This is not to take away anything from Max’s stupendous victory, which he owes primarily to his exceptional mental state and ability to remain objectively focused at all times: the kid has nerves of titanium. Add loads of raw talent and flawless coaching since he was a child, and you have the recipe for continued success. But in Barcelona, two events propelled young Verstappen to victory: a winning tire strategy (two stops versus three for his team mate Ricciardo), and of course the first lap pandemonium when the two Mercedes drivers took each other out. Yes, the stars are aligned for Max, and a star is born.

Suzuka is certainly one of the most challenging andf difficult circuits for a race driver, which is why they all love it. With its fast mix of sweeping curves and unique layout, it is the opposite of a Tilkedrome. Oozing with history, it's been the witness of the glorious Senna-Prost battles, and of the Jules Bianchi tragedy. Lewis Hamilton always said that he wanted to be a thrice World Champion like his hero Ayrton Senna, and equaling the Brazilian legend's tally of 41victories with his Japanese victory sure put a big smile on his face. Few doubt that he is now on his way to a third title, as a submissive Nico Rosberg seems incapable of challenging his forceful, determined and massively talented Mercedes teammate. The first corner challenge at the start of the race between Nico and Lewis was a clear proof of that...
